Android 11 has higher hardware requirements than Windows 10

Android 11 will not be installed on older phones.

Thanks to the recently launched beta-tests of the Android 11 mobile operating system – and more specifically the Device Configuration Guide document shared by Google – we got to know, among others hardware requirements for this software (via XDA Developers). It turns out that to run smoothly and offer the full set of features, the system needs a phone with more than 2 GB of RAM.

Models with 2 GB or less of RAM will be recognized as an Android Go device – it will only be possible to run on them a special, “light” version of the system with truncated functionality. It is worth noting that on hardware with 512 MB or less of Android 11 RAM, we will not install it at all.

Interestingly, a full-fledged version of Android 11 requires more RAM than the Windows 10 operating system (this can be installed on hardware with at least 1 GB of memory).
