Tips for completing the Johto Collection Challenge in Pokémon Go

Here are several tips to help you complete the Johto Collection Challenge in Pokémon Go:

  • Since Smeargle can only appear by taking photos with the Snapshot Go feature, you may have to repeat this action many times if you are unlucky. We recommend that you take a break between photo sessions. Hopefully you will get an encounter with Smeargle without filling the photo gallery to the top.
  • Larvitar is hard to come by if you focus only on the 5km Eggs, so focus on looking for him in the One Star Raids.
  • Miltank and Johto’s initials will also appear in Raids during the Johto Celebration Event, and with Remote Raid Passes you can play from home.
  • Placing a Bait Module in a PokéStop is a good way to get Pokémon to come to you.
  • Don’t forget to use the incense to attract Pokémon to your location. Hopefully, you will see some of the Pokémon you need for the Johto Collection Challenge.
  • Some of the Pokémon on the Johto Collection Challenge list will appear as rewards for completing Field Research Tasks; you can see more about it in the next section.

Here’s everything you need to know about Go Beyond, including the arrival of the Gen 6 Pokémon from the Kalos region (X and Y), the level cap increase to 50, Legacy Challenge 40, the new Candy XL, and the Season of Celebration, which includes the arrival of the Deerling and Sawsbuck Forms, the Espurr Raid, and the Kalos Celebration Event.

We also have the new Field Investigations, two Community Days that retrieves all the Pokémon from Community Days 2019 and 2020; the classic Hours of Featured Pokémon and the start of Season 6 of the Go Fighting League. How the Johto Collection Challenge works in Pokémon Go

The Pokémon Go Collection Challenges launched in January 2021 and coincide with other in-game events. Each Collection Challenge asks you to catch a series of Pokémon that, thanks to the event, will appear more often in the wild.

Once you have completed the Collection Challenge by capturing all of them you will receive rewards: you will get various items and you will progress in your Elite Collector medal.

Johto Collection Challenge coincides with Johto Celebration Event – will be available from Tuesday, January 26 at 10 am (local time) to Sunday, January 31 at 8pm (local time).

Keep in mind that Johto’s Collection Challenge will disappear forever when the event ends, so if you want the rewards you will have to keep an eye on the Pokémon you need.

The Collection Challenges can be found in the ‘Today’ section which you can access by pressing the Field Investigations button (the small binoculars at the bottom right) and moving to the screen on the left.

After accessing ‘Today’ you will see a list of all the Pokémon that you have to capture to complete the Collection Challenge. Catching a Pokémon in the Collection Challenge will bring up a completion mark on the list, so you can easily see which ones you are missing.

Keep in mind that Johto’s Collection Challenge will disappear forever when the event ends, so if you want the rewards you will have to keep an eye on the Pokémon you need.

Good luck completing the Johto Collection Challenge!
