April was an important month for fans of the Persona series, as Atlus revealed, during the Persona Super Live P-Sound Street 2019 event, the first details and a trailer for Persona 5 Royal, the enhanced version of the acclaimed RPG Persona 5. This new version follows the same steps as Persona 3 Fes and Persona 4 Golden, bringing new content and adjustments to the base game.

Now director Daiki Itoh, known for directing Persona 4 Golden, and producer Kazuhisa Wada participated in an interview in Japanese magazine Famitsu where they revealed new details about Persona 5 Royal. In the last edition, Itoh says he hopes that the expectations of Persona 4 Golden fans will be exceeded by bringing new content through the newly added third semester.

According to revealed information, Atlus is not only adding new elements, but also some adjustments, making experience points easier to obtain so that the user can play at a better pace. In addition, the game assistance feature will further implement the characters’ voices, considering the parameters and confidants to suggest a destination to which the player can move with the push of a button.

With regard to the new characters, Itoh says that Kasumi will be integrated into the story and put the characters already known in a new light, increasing the player’s perspective. The girl will also have a confidant who can level up in the course of the narrative. No further information was revealed about Maruki, but the director says the new confidant is an extremely pleasant adult character.

To make fans even more curious, the producers stated that if they could add confidants other than Kasumi and Maruki it would certainly happen. Will we have new characters announced soon?

Additionally, fans who have a Persona 5 save will receive an undisclosed bonus when playing the new version. It is worth mentioning, however, that it will not be possible to use the same save file in Persona 5 Royal. Regarding the soundtrack, Famitsu revealed that Persona 5 Royal will have a total of 20 new background songs.

Persona 5 Royal is in development for PlayStation 4, scheduled for October 31 in Japan, reaching the west in 2020.
