Among Us was downloaded more than 264 million times last year, making it the most downloaded mobile game last year. At least, that’s the case according to Apptopia, a website that collects and analyzes information from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Although Among Us was released in 2018, the game only became immensely popular through Twitch and YouTube last year. Partly thanks to that popularity, Among Us did a lot better than other mobile games like Subway Surfers and Garena Free Fire.

If we look at the mobile games that brought in the most money, PUBG was the big slug at $ 1.1 billion. Strangely enough, major competitor Fortnite is not in the top 10 of Apptopia. No doubt that is due to the fact that Fortnite was removed from the Play Store and App Store last year.

The overview of Apptopia contains some interesting data. For example, the three most downloaded apps last year were not surprisingly TikTok, WhatsApp and Facebook. However, due to the corona pandemic and the various lockdowns, video apps such as Zoom and Google Meet are also quickly nestling in the top 10.
