At WWDC 2020, one of the most revolutionary versions of macOS to date was unveiled: macOS Big Sur. This new version, which is number 11, applies a complete redesign to the system. And, at the same time, it integrates new technologies, such as compatibility with Apple Silicon and universal apps or Rosetta 2.

Unknown error trying to install macOS Big Sur.

For months, Mac users have been waiting for the release of this new version. And it is that, despite the fact that the updates to the mobile operating systems were released in September, Big Sur had not yet made an appearance. At least, until last Apple Event.

At this recent event, the company not only took the opportunity to launch its first Macs with the M1 chip, but also announced the launch date of its new system. That day arrived yesterday, November 12, but not everything is going according to plan. Since its publication, it has not only been shown that there was great anticipation, but also that there were still some important errors to be polished.

According to 9to5Mac, Apple has confirmed that in the first hours of the update’s release its servers have had problems processing the demand. In fact, issues have spread to the Mac App Store, iMessage, and even the Apple website. Luckily, little by little they have been recovering normality. Or at least, that’s what we believed.

Despite the fact that macOS Big Sur can now be downloaded normally, there are still problems installing it. Many users have been able to download the new version, but an unknown error prevents the process from continuing. At the moment, Apple has not offered more information, but we hope that the situation will normalize in the next few hours.
