Apple fights back and sues Epic Games for damages in Fortnite case

The battle between Apple and Epic Games continues. This time, the apple company has decided to fight back by suing the parents of Fortnite claiming punitive damages to the entire plot of recent days.

The pulse that Epic Games and Apple are keeping During the last weeks it has been one of the most relevant topics in the video game industry. What began as a provocation has become a subject full of accusations and legal measures between both companies.

If just yesterday we knew that Epic Games had asked Fortnite to return to Apple devices claiming a loss of 63% of the players, today it was known that the apple company is going to sue the developer.

The technology giant argues damages and prejudices due to the strategy that Epic Games has followed following the removal of Fortnite from the App Store. The counterclaim, known through Polygon, reads like this:

Although Epic presents itself as a modern corporate Robin Hood, in reality is a billion dollar company that just doesn’t want to pay anything for the tremendous value you get from the App Store. Epic’s demands for special treatment and cries of ‘retaliation’ cannot be reconciled with its flagrant breach of contract and its own business practices, as it raises billions by collecting commissions on sales from game developers and charging Consumers up to $ 99.99 per ‘V-Bucks’ packs.

Epic fired the first shot in this dispute, and their deliberate, blatant, and illegal conduct cannot be left unchecked. Neither Mr. Sweeney’s self-righteous (and selfish) lawsuits nor the scale of Epic’s business can justify Epic’s deliberate breaches of contract, wrongful conduct, or unfair business practices, the lawsuit continues. This Court must make Epic honor its contractual promises, award Apple compensatory and punitive damages and prohibit Epic from engaging in further unfair business practices.

The case between Apple and Epic Games will resume on November 28. To liven up the wait for the next chapter of the series, how about a little Fortnite?
