Tips, tricks and everything you need to know about Assassin’s Creed Origins

Beyond the specific guides, below you can see some general tips and tricks to get the most out of your Egyptian adventure.

Story progress and side quests

Each mission in the story has an assigned level, and in general you should heed and fulfill them only when you have reached it. Being a level or two below is not a problem, but if you are far from that it will be impossible to complete a mission, because you will not even be able to inflict damage. Luckily the game offers a ton of side quests and entertainment to level up.

As you progress through the world following the story, we advise you to complete most of the secondary missions in a region before leaving it; that will keep you at the same height as the assigned levels, and it will also save you a lot of backtracking.

The World of Origins

The first hour of the game is quite linear, but it will eventually open up and offer you an entire realm in which you can move as you please. After arriving in Alexandria you can advance on foot, on horseback or camel to reach any of the unknown regions of the map, although we advise to take a look at the suggested levels before jumping into the pool; You will still be able to enter them, but any opposition you encounter will be within that range, and it can be dangerous to aim too high.

When entering a region for the first time, your priority should be to unlock at least one fast travel point so you don’t have to walk back. (Note that not all regions have one.) That will also reveal the locations of side quests and points of interest in the surrounding area, so if you’re looking for something to do, you can start here.

Combat and stealth

Although direct combat is unavoidable at times, many of the game’s encounters can be made simpler by keeping yourself out of sight of enemies. Use the rooftops and tall grass for cover, and get used to using Senu to conduct a reconnaissance flight before entering restricted areas; marking the places where there are enemies makes it much easier.

That said, there are times when being detected can work to your advantage. If you try to gain access to a heavily guarded area, you can start a brawl and then run away, guiding your enemies to a much more convenient location and targeting your objective much more easily.

As you level up, you’ll earn skill points that you can spend to unlock new skills, and we recommend balancing things out a bit rather than spending them all in one area – having a wide range of skills gives you more flexibility when tackling to different situations.
