Welcome to Super Power Unlimited, the column that lists the superhero news for you every week. This Monday before Halloween is almost all about Avengers 4, but luckily Boba Fett brings some Star Wars news among all that violence surrounding the most powerful heroes on Earth.

Super Power Unlimited number seven is here with Crossbones’ return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the potential MCU introduction of the man DC Comics based its Aquaman on, and Marvel’s plans for 2020!

Frank Grillo: Flashback with Crossbones in Avengers 4

Frank Grillo, who played Crossbones in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Civil War, announced on a UFC podcast that his character will be featured in Avengers 4. Brock ‘Crossbones’ Rumlow was blown up during the big opening battle of Civil War, but will be seen again in flashback when the Avengers return next year to undo Thanos’ snap.

Grillo insisted that he more or less regretted his statement, because “he won’t appear in future Marvel movies anyway.” Furthermore, Grillo says he is not a super fan of the Marvel films, he can only enjoy The Winter Soldier, the film in which his character is introduced. There we can really only say ‘BOE !!!’ of shouting, Frank!

Avengers 4 trailer is coming before the end of the year

During a screening of Black Panther for Oscar voters, Kevin Feige has announced that the Avengers 4 trailer will be released before the end of this year. Infinity War also got a trailer on November 4 last year, so will Marvel keep the same date for releasing the first teaser on Avengers 4?

OK, here we go, 3 quick questions, answers direct from Kevin Feige’s mouth

1) AVENGERS 4 trailer “before the end of the year”
2) Namor COULD make an appearance, still deciding IF & when
3) GUARDIANS 3 status “on hold”

The Marvel mastermind went on to say that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 still has the status ‘on hold’ and also made statements about the character Namor the Sub-Mariner. The news below takes a closer look at that character.

Kevin Feige: ‘Namor could appear in MCU, the question is if and when’

In addition to the Avengers 4 trailer, Feige also has news about a Marvel character who is not exactly A-class in terms of fame: Namor the Sub-Mariner. This character is the basis for DC’s Aquaman and is the ruler of Atlantis. According to Feige, it is possible that the king of the seas will make an appearance in the MCU, but this is not yet certain. Logically, the way in which it could be introduced is also not yet known.

Fitting in Namor can still be a challenge for Marvel, because to give the ruler of Atlantis a solo film, he needs rights from Universal, the studio where the film rights are still located. Namor could appear in a supporting role in Black Panther 2, for example, because in the comic ‘Avengers vs. X-Men ‘flooded Namor Wakanda because the Avengers were hiding there. The attack also started a war between the lands of Black Panther and Atlantis.

Boba Fett movie officially canceled, focus is on the Mandalorian

The Boba Fett movie is 100% dead. Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy confirmed this to journalist Erick Weber, who then announced it again via a tweet. Perhaps the most beloved character in the Star Wars universe was very close to a movie that would be all about him. James Mangold (Logan) was to direct the spin-off, but unfortunately Lucasfilm only sees room for one Mandalorian story:

Kathleen Kennedy just confirmed to me Boba Fett movie is 100% dead, 100% focusing on THE MANDALORIAN #StarWars

– (@ErickWeber) October 26, 2018

The focus is now entirely on Jon Favreau’s series The Mandalorian, which revolves around a character who comes from the same planet as Boba and his father Jango. The disappointing results of Solo: A Star Wars Story are probably a reason to cancel, although this film has barely received any marketing, so um … that disappointing box office is perhaps not very surprising, Disney?

Rumor: the plans for Marvel movies in 2020

Marvel will likely not announce its final schedule for Phase 4 films until next July’s San Diego Comic Con (or at an event of its own, or at D23 in August), but MCU Cosmic says 2020 films will be released already in sight. Black Widow will be released on May 1, 2020 and The Eternals are scheduled to make their appearance in Marvel’s film universe on November 6, 2020, according to the news site.

In the comics, The Eternals got their powers from a group of space gods called The Celestials. These gods have a connection with Galactus, said to be the most powerful creature in the universe. So the arrival of the Eternals could well herald the introduction of Galactus into the MCU. The Disney-Fox deal will probably have been long and broadly concluded by 2020, so Galactus can be used by Disney again!
