A new wave of rumors for Rockstar titles is simmering on a Reddit topic. Insider u / joebucksucks420, who has an extensive record of participation in the forum, said he “got information from a friend who works at Rockstar” and revealed alleged launch windows for Bully 2 and GTA 6, as well as a mysterious remaster for the next one generation of consoles.
The user himself says that he understands that “some are skeptical” with the information, but points out that “he has been there for a while, with 60k of karma” (the forum’s scoring system for active users). He claims “I never posted with false information”. That said, let’s go to the revelations:
- After the development of Red Dead Redemption 2 was completed, a relatively small group of employees immediately started working on a remaster, which would be released in late 2020 for next generation consoles – it is estimated to be the Red Dead Redemption 2 itself powered;
- Most people at Rockstar started working full-time on the alleged Bully 2, which would be released on first half of 2020. They already have a game engine, and the world would only be “a little” bigger than the first Bully’s, allowing the second to be completed much faster than a GTA or Red Dead;
- Preliminary work in GTA 6 has already started, but the focus will not be absolute on it until the release of Bully 2, similar to what happened with Red Dead Redemption 2;
- The plan is to launch GTA 6 on end of 2023, but the team knows that 2024 would be a more realistic goal.
That’s it for now. The user says that “he doesn’t want to screw up his friend’s career” and, therefore, cannot reveal more information. Considering the distant dates, it is difficult to validate these predictions, but they seem realistic, especially if we evaluate Rockstar’s “modus operandi”, which develops its projects calmly.
