Cyberpunk 2077 – Adam Smasher boss fight explained

There are a number of slightly tougher opponents in Cyberpunk 2077, but only one of them is the real, clear boss: Adam Smasher. So that you don’t end up like Johnny Silverhand, we have the big boss fight Cyberpunk 2077 against Adam Smasher in all details. And yes, it’s a silly name. But that doesn’t change anything about Smasher’s clout.

Stages of struggle

There are two phases of combat that follow each other as you continue to dismantle Smasher:

Phase 1: Smasher is still completely intact and is looking for hand-to-hand combat with you if he is not just letting the ball storm down on you.

Phase 2: You have damaged it so far that its right side is almost unusable. Smasher is now calling more fighters and using missiles.

Final phase (no longer a real combat phase): Smasher is practically on the ground, can no longer move. You just have to decide here whether you want to let him live or give the rest.

The pure stealth tactic against Adam Smasher

The fight against Smasher seems unfair for pure stealth vs, but if you have the appropriate skills and quick hacks – above all the optical restart is essential for this fight – then this can be one of the best variations. You have to hide and remain invisible until Smasher has “forgotten” you, that is, his attention is yellow. This can be done by starting the optics restart and then using this window to hide. Then sneak in for a stealth attack. The damage is so great that the next phase of the fight begins. In the second round it is more difficult for Smasher to call for reinforcements and it is easier for you to be spotted. So it can be helpful to first switch off these annoying companions, then restart Smashers Optik and then start the experiment. If you are good at hiding as well as at hacking, then you can hack it from your hiding place with cyberware disruption. This causes so much damage that the next phase begins.

Attacks by Adam Smasher in Cyberpunk 2077

In Phase 1, Adam Smasher basically has three attacks. The first is a melee strike sequence that will knock you through half the room and do a lot of damage if you don’t evade. But if you dodge to the side, then you have a good chance of a counterattack as soon as he takes the final blow. His second attack is the bullet storm: He stops, points his arm cannon at you and shoots nonstop as much as it can. These bullets even eat their way through cover, so if your cover starts to crumble, you’ll need to switch quickly, even if that means you will take some damage. Better than standing still. His third attack is your best chance for a serious counterattack: His jump attack is clearly visible and as soon as he starts, you run. It doesn’t matter where, in any case away from his landing site, which is always where you were just a moment ago. When you have escaped him and the pressure wave, you turn around to him. Smasher kneels a little now and you stick with everything you have.

In phase 2 Adam Smasher calls for help and there are some very fast cyborg ninja and heavy fighters. Try to do this quick one by moving between the covers, as Smasher and his friends can get uncomfortable at the same time. Use the Pink Quickhack to see who is where. Meanwhile, Smasher uses his rocket launcher. As soon as you see red rings appear on the ground around you, you start running, because a second later guessing starts there. That is also his main attack, otherwise he will often run away and only shoot you half-heartedly. Evade and fire back, because that’s your chance for good damage.

Adam Smasher: weaknesses and helpful quickhacks

At first Adam Smasher doesn’t seem to have a real weak point, nothing really does harm. But always keep an eye on his chest, the one underneath his cyber heart beats. You just have to blast away the metal plate in front of it, then every hit here really hurts him.

It’s even better if you use tech weapons. These ignore part of the armor and hit his heart directly. Or other organs, they definitely do more damage. In phase 2 you can use it to shoot through cover and clear up the called help faster.

With grenades you should use chemicals or splinters, both cause a lot of damage to Smasher. Throw a few if, for example, he has just made his jump and is briefly motionless.

Important quickhacks:

  • Gun Glitch: This takes the bite out of the ball storm.
  • Remote Activation: This allows you to move the covers when fighting in Mikoshi. You can also take over the guns in Mikoshi.
  • Cyberware Disruption: The Killer Move. If your V can do what requires very high hacking values and takes a long time, then it hits so hard that the next phase starts.
  • Ping (phase 2): With a ping you can see where the reinforcement is.
  • Cyber psychosis (phase 2): Smasher may be immune to it, but his helpers are not.

Should you kill Adam Smasher?

Then when you have Smasher on your knees, you can decide if that was it and just walk away or if you give him the last bullet. It is entirely up to you and has no effect on either end. Even Johnny doesn’t take it too personally if you spare his old adversary.
