The Pixel 8 series is getting battery and charging improvements.
The next Google series is due to debut in a few months. As expected, the rumors keep growing. Today we know more about battery size and charging speed.
Google will improve the battery capacity of the Pixel 8 series
Android Authority reports that the series will get improvements in battery size and charging speed over last year. This includes increasing the maximum charging speed to 24W on the Pixel 8 and 27W on the Pro model. Especially against 20W and 23W on previous models.
Mobiles, on the other hand, will see an increase over their predecessors. It starts with the Pixel 8 Pro, which will go from 4,926 mAh on the 7 Pro to 4,950 mAh. It is very likely that Google will keep the same capacity of 5000 mAh. For its part, the classic model reaches 4,485 mAh against 4,270 mAh on the Pixel 7. This increase of around 5% is not major, but it should be enough to be felt.
This latest report also details Wi-Fi 7 support on both phones as part of the Tensor G3 upgrade, as well as continued UWB support, but only on the Pixel 8 Pro. An improved UWB module also seems to be used.
Apparently the Pixel 8 might be available in new countries. Citing e-guarantees, it looks like both phones will launch in the following regions in addition to the existing countries:
- Austria
- Swiss
- Belgium
- Portugal
Availability has always been an issue for Pixel phones, and while Google has made improvements, there’s still a lot of work to do.
