Sega Brings Back Classic Games and Fans Get…

SEGA recently announced five new games based on a classic franchise and promised even more. Thanks to a new report, we now know which other games could make a return.

SEGA surprised everyone at The Game Awards with their “Power Surge” trailer, which revealed five new games based on some of their most beloved classic franchises. Alongside Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage and Crazy Taxi, fans were teased by the phrase “and more” appearing at the end of the trailer.

Now we know what that “and more” could include, as an exclusive report from Insider Gaming reveals more classic throwbacks that SEGA is currently working on.

We’re collecting more SEGA classics than expected

According to Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, there are at least ten SEGA classics that currently have new games in development. Aside from the five titles initially announced, there are three others that Henderson says will also return: Panzer Dragoon, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Sakura Taisen.

“Speaking to sources, it is understood that Panzer Dragoon, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Sakura Taisen will all have new games and are also in early stages of development. »

What the other two games are is unfortunately unclear. However, there are many clues as to what they might be. As Henderson points out, Gematsu reported on SEGA’s trademarks in December for more than a dozen games. This includes the titles that have been revealed so far, as well as a number of classic IPs that have yet to be revealed as part of this throwback series:

  • Alex Kidd
  • Modified beast
  • After the burner
  • Eternal Champions
  • house of death
  • Chameleon child
  • Exceed
  • Super monkey ball

Eight more SEGA trademarks filed on December 6 and made public today:

That’s a pretty strong indicator that some, maybe even all of these IP addresses might come back. It’s worth pointing out that the titles revealed by Henderson do not yet appear to appear in public brand databases. But it could only be a matter of time.
