As unlikely as it seemed, The Witcher 3 is actually coming to the Nintendo Switch. The game is considered one of the best of this generation, but bringing it to Nintendo’s hybrid console is clearly a major technical challenge.
In an interview with the Video Game Chronicle website, user interface director Alvin Liu comments on the CD Projekt Red team’s thoughts on the new version of the game. Naturally, several visual features had to be simplified to support the small hardware, but the team is extremely satisfied with the result.
“Now, there is less foliage and the rendering distance is shorter … But it still looks incredible,” comments Liu. Despite these changes, the game remains the same in terms of content, including all DLCs and expansions. The only notable change is in the graphical interface, which has been adapted to work better on the Switch.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released for PC, PS4 and Xbox One in 2015, and will be released in 2019 for Nintendo Switch.
