It really seems like a lot of shoppers will be hugely disappointed after Amazon puts Xbox One X consoles in front of their doorstep instead of the Xbox Series X.

While Sony has stayed with the completely ordinary numbering of PlayStation consoles, Microsoft has taken a rather unusual path: after the classic Xbox, the Xbox 360 has arrived, and to the shock of many, the Xbox One. The latter later got a more powerful (Xbox One X) and a smaller version (Xbox One S).

For the next generation starting in November, Microsoft has chosen even weirder names: the new irons come as Xbox Series X and Series S. And all this completely confused the average buyers.

It would be hard to find any other explanation for why Xbox One X sales have skyrocketed at several resellers, such as Amazon. We are talking about an increase of hundreds of percent, with demand jumping up exactly 747% on Tuesday.

Interestingly, the similarly deceptive Xbox One S did not experience such a leap. As an outside observer, things might even be funny, but it’s quite likely that shoppers won’t even laugh a bit when they unpack the package sent out by Amazon. Then who knows, maybe they won’t even notice the whole thing …
