What is Destiny 2: New Light? All the content included in the free version of Destiny 2 and all the details of Shadowkeep

Destiny 2: New Light is the free-to-play version of Destiny 2. The short version is that all of Destiny 2’s launch content is free, plus some of the stuff that was introduced in the expansions.

First of all, here is a list of current content that will be free for all players:

Destiny 2’s free-to-play switch and the new expansion have been a good excuse to do a deep clean and tweak some classic systems, from the way cosmetics and shop work to the Armor 2.0 system. .

There are a lot of small changes, but here we will summarize the most important ones:

Each season will have a Battle Pass, a Season Artifact, and changes to the story progression.

Destiny 2 has had seasonal content for a while, but now it will include new features and rewards.

The headline is that there is now a Battle Pass with 100 ranks of rewards, in the style of shooters like Fortnite. There are free rewards if you don’t buy the Season Pass, while those who do (the former comes with Shadowkeep) will receive more.

All of this is unlocked with the current XP system, so whatever activity you play in will help increase your level, so in theory you can get there playing however you want, go to the Crucible or Raids.

In addition to this, there is a new mechanic known as the Seasonal Artifact, free for everyone. As you play, you will unlock season-specific mods that you can equip on your armor. It will also give you a Power level upgrade in addition to your equipment level. This improvement is unlimited, so in theory it will be possible to improve the Power level above the usual. Most importantly, both the Seasonal Artifact and the rewards you receive are reset each season, so Bungie can experiment with the meta through temporary modifications without breaking the game in the long term, and resetting the progression level gives everyone a new goal every few months.

What does this mean? The state of the world will change and seasonal activities will appear, such as the available Vex Offensive that is part of the Season Pass, which will not be available at the end of the season, being replaced by something different.

There will be other changes per season. For example, four Crucible maps will not be available in this first season of Year 3, while Bungie tweaks them before re-introducing them.

Armor receives a new mod and transmog system

Probably the biggest change in practice is the new Armor 2.0 system in Destiny 2. For starters, there is a transmog (Universal Ornaments) system for Legendary and Eververse armor that will allow you to change the appearance of your equipment while maintaining the basic stats and the benefits (including the Solstice of Heroes armor, for those who got it).
