CBS is very confident in the success of the series and in shaping Patrick Stewart.

It’s not uncommon for the second season of a new series to be released before the debut of the first episode, but there are indications that CBS already wants to see more of Star Trek: Picard. For now, we’d love to see any of it, but luckily we don’t have to wait that awful long for it either. Until then, it may be possible to repeat the new generation.

The protagonist of the series, Patrick Stewart, played alongside Jean-Luc Picard, will feature well-known actors from previous series. Jonathan Frakes, Jeri Ryan, and Brent Spiner are back, and it wouldn’t be surprising if they’re kind to old fans with a number of cameo scenes.

According to the latest information from Deadline, the second season, like the first, will consist of 10 episodes, with production starting no earlier than next spring. The first installment of Star Trek: Picard will debut on January 23, 2020.
