Final Fantasy IX was recently released on PS4, and as you may know, this game includes several codes that make the game easier.
These codes are very useful against difficult bosses, as well as being very useful if you simply want to enjoy the story without having to worry about accumulating experience points or skills.
How to access Final Fantasy IX codes
To access the cheats for this final fantasy, simply click on the options button during your game session and you will find a list of four codes in the lower right corner. The codes can be activated and deactivated freely in this menu, and you can activate several at the same time.
Pause Menu Code List
Battle Assistance
- How to use: Click on L1 when you are on the pause screen.
- What happens: This code simply makes combat easier, making each member’s ATB gauge fill up instantly. In other words, you don’t have to wait for this bar to fill up between turns, keeping your hit points and magic full, as well as allowing you to enter trance mode freely.
9999
- How to use: Click on the L2 when you are on the pause screen.
- What happens: With this code all your attacks deal 9999 points of damage, and all your healing items restore 9999 points of life.
High Speed Mode
- How to use: Click on R1 when you are on the pause screen.
- What happens: This code basically increases the speed of the game, allowing you to play at a very fast pace. A good cheat for the speedrunning community.
Safe Travel
- How to use: Click on R2 when you are on the pause screen.
- What happens: This cheat disables all random battles, allowing you to roam the world of Final Fantasy IX without interruption.

In addition to the four cheats in the Final Fantasy IX pause menu, there are three additional cheats in the settings menu. Click on the triangle when you are playing to open the main menu, then scroll down and select the settings. Within the settings, you will find three codes within the “booster” section.
However, unlike the codes in the pause menu, these codes cannot be deactivated after activating them. That is, if you activate one of these cheats and then save the game, that cheat will be permanently activated in that save file. If you simply want to try the codes, remember to save the game first!
Master Abilities
- What happens: This code allows your team to learn equipment abilities instantly.
Lv / Mag Stone Max
- What happens: This cheat evolves all your characters to level 99, as well as increasing the amount of magic stone to 99.
Gil Max
- What happens: As you can guess, this cheat gives you the maximum amount of gil.
Do Cheats disable Final Fantasy IX Trophies?
The answer is: it depends. Cheats on the pause screen do not disable trophies, but cheats in the settings menu disable trophies. If you try to activate one of these cheats from the settings menu the game will warn you about this, so be careful.
