Date and schedule for the event

The Fortnite World Cup in solo and duo extends together with the supporting program (World Cup in creative mode, Pro-AM, Fan Festival) over three days, starting on Friday July 26th to Sunday July 28th. Since the show is held in Now York, the transmission times of the streams in this country are of course backwards. Nevertheless, the times are by and large quite pleasant.

Basically, the broadcast begins in the afternoon with the supporting program. If you are only interested in the matches of the final rounds in solo and duo, it will only be interesting on Saturdays and Sundays from 6:30 p.m. with the respective opening show. The fights start at 7:00 p.m. Friday, however, is reserved for the supporting program. Here is the exact schedule for the entire weekend:

Day 1 (Friday July 26th)

Day 2 (Saturday July 27th)

Day 3 (Sunday July 28th)

Where and how you can watch

While around 25,000 viewers watch the World Cup in the sold-out Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows (Qeens district), the streams are likely to increase by a few million pairs of eyes. For this reason, the event will also be broadcast live on all major platforms. In addition, Epic also offers the picture-in-picture function for Fortnite, with which you can play and watch the World Cup at the same time (details are a little further down on the page). You can follow the shows on the following platforms:

This is how you use the picture-in-picture (PiP) function in Fortnite

If you want to follow the general stream of the World Cup show in Fortnite, you will find the “Watch now!” Button in the upper right corner of the lobby. If you click on it, a Durrr Burger mini-game will open during the PiP video (Picture-in-picture). As soon as the video is loaded, you can click on this to watch it in full screen. With the PiP function, only the original English sound is available without any other language subtitles. Should you be in a match you will hear both the sound of the stream and the sound of Fortnite.

Fortnite World Cup Final 2019: Thanks to the picture-in-picture function, you can see the World Cup live while you play Fortnite.

Basically, the PiP function is activated in Fortnite. If you don’t want that, you can simply close the window in the lobby. If you are currently in a match, you can deactivate the PiP function by opening the menu and clicking on the “switch off” button in the top right corner of the screen. There you can also switch the stream back on if necessary.

On the other hand, if you want to follow the fights of certain players, you have to go to the “Competition” tab. Find the area for the Fortnite World Cup Finals here and select the match that you want to see from the ranking list with the participants, their placements and values. You can also watch reps here in case you missed a round or want to see it again in detail.

The professionals can win this prize money

Epic really draws from the full at this World Cup and makes the tournament the most highly endowed in the game sector. Expressed in numbers, this means that more than 30 million dollars will be paid out at the World Cup. As far as we know, the prize money in the solo and duo is distributed as follows:

Solo

Duo

Obviously, the solo mode is the most lucrative, because here you don’t have to share the profit, even if the duo gives you slightly higher amounts to win. But it’s not just the immensely high prize money that attracts the best of the best. In addition, there should be other advantages for the players. The number of viewers on their respective streams should increase again properly and there will certainly be one or the other advertising or cooperation agreement.

All qualified players and favorites of the tournament – who will be there?

Around 40 million players took part in the preliminary rounds of the Fortnite World Cup. In the end, only 100 players stand alone or 50 teams in a duo on the stage in New York and find the best among themselves.

It is noticeable that the well-known stars such as Ninja, Liquid, Chap or Myth did not survive the various preliminary rounds of the tournament in great numbers (but they are in the Pro-AM round) – only Tfue made the qualification with 69 points.

Fortnite World Cup Final 2019: Streamer Tfue made it as one of the few starts to the World Cup.

Instead, many smaller streamers and young players have secured their place in the spotlight. These include, for example, 15-year-old Benjyfishy from England, who made headlines because his mother dropped him off school so he could become a Fortnite pro. Now he has a very good chance that the thing will really pay off (he already has 50k in his pocket).

A few players from Germany also made it and are allowed to travel to New York for the final. These include Fledermoys, Emqu, LeTsHe from Team Atlantis and Lyght, who at 13 years of age is one of the youngest participants in solo. As a duo, Derox and the Lootboy team (Lootboy Mexe and Lootboy Skram) from Münster made it among the participants.

Also the controversial because they got caught while boosting (players cheat their way up the ranking with the help of others) players “Code Ronaldo” and “XXiF” are there after they qualified in a later round after being banned for 14 days – very much to the displeasure of the other players and fans.

Who are the favorites?

Picking the favorites among the top 100 players in the world is of course always a guessing game. After all, every participant has what it takes to be a winner. However, if you believe the betting odds, Tfue, Stompy, Dubs, MrSavage, Funk, Benjyfishy, Mongraal, Bizzle, Megga and Zayt have the best chances of winning solo.

In the duo, you can count on the teams Tschinken / Stompy, Benjifishy / MrSavageM, Sean / Aydan, Megga / Dubs, Mongraal / Mitr0, Funk / Nate Hill, Clix / Skeptic, Saf / Zayt, Ceive / Elevate and Arkhram / Falconer.

The rules and the point system in solo and duo

In both the solo and duo finals, the same rules apply as in the qualifying rounds. Means: Each player or each team plays a total of 6 matches. The following point system is used, which is kept relatively simple and based on the final placement of each match and the number of kills. The points from the six rounds of each player / team are then added up at the end of the tournament, which results in the respective placement. The player / team with the highest number of points will of course end up at the top in 1st place.

What happens in the event of a tie?

If there is a tie break (equal score) between two or more players, the following factors will be evaluated in sequence until the placements have been determined:

In the unlikely event that there is still a tie between two or more players according to these four criteria, a coin toss will ultimately decide the placement.
