The concept of Pokémon Let’s Go could just move to the Johto region, provided Let’s Go Eevee! and Let’s Go Pikachu! do well with the public. Game Freak boss Junichi Masuda made that statement in an interview with SamaGame.
As Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! And Let’s Go, Eevee! To be well received, a trip to the Johto region might be an option. The first Pokémon titles on Nintendo Switch will take you to the Kanto region starting November 16, and if you like that adventure, Game Freak may want to move the action to the world of Pokémon Gold and Silver. Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda told SamaGame.
Masuda was first asked why baby Pokémon like Igglybuff won’t be appearing in Let’s Go:
So, kind of at the basis of it you know is that in the first generation there aren’t any Pokémon Eggs, so you know, when we thought about how would these Pokémon be hatched in the first place, it kind of didn’t make any sense. But also you know we wanted to spend more time and put more effort into making the Kanto Pokémon, the original 151, as well made as possible, and expressing them as well as we could.
Baby Pokemon like Togepi and Smoochum were only added in the second generation. When asked if there is a Johto sequel for Pokémon Let’s Go, Masuda replied as follows:
So you know maybe – if everyone enjoys playing these games.
Of course, we first have to wait until Pokémon Let’s Go are in stores from November 16 and they may be waiting for a larger Pokémon-RPG with an open world. If Let’s Go Pikachu! and Let’s Go Evee! doing it right, then there might be a trip to generation 2.
