Geoff Keighley has announced that for the first time in 25 years he will not attend E3.
“Considering what has been publicly communicated about the E3 2020 plans, I just don’t feel comfortable participating in the show this time. I saw the E3 web leak this morning and said, you know what, I need to tell people. what you can expect from me so that no one is disappointed. It was not an easy decision for me, but I think it is the right one. And I want the fans to know before the tickets go on sale. “
“We are at an interesting tipping point between physical and digital events, and certainly E3 is in the middle of that transition, evolving the industry’s traditional trade shows. As someone who has attended for more than two and a half decades, there are, Sure, a lot of emotions. But when you look at it objectively, E3 is simply the idea of bringing the industry and fans together and celebrating the medium on a global scale. The future of E3 will be determined by how effective the brand is in delivering that goal. . ”
“It’s just my opinion, but I think E3 needs to be more digital, global, and inclusive in the way it connects players and celebrates the industry. It’s not about who buys a booth at the show.”
