God of War Ragnarök has finally confirmed its release date and won’t be released until 2023, as some rumors had predicted. Sony Santa Monica is plotting the Spartan’s return in this sequel to the 2018 title, which will wrap up the character’s Norse arc.

“From the hand of Santa Monica Studio comes the sequel to the famous God of War (2018). The Fimbulvetr is on the move. Kratos and Atreus must travel to each of the Nine Realms in search of answers as Asgardian forces prepare for the prophesied battle that will spell the end of the world. Along the way, they will explore incredible mythical landscapes and face fearsome enemies, such as Norse monsters and gods. The threat of Ragnarök draws near. Kratos and Atreus must choose between their own safety and that of the realms. »

Father and son, finding their place in the world

Throughout this new journey, Atreus must seek the knowledge necessary to understand Loki’s prophecy and thus unravel what his role will be in Ragnarök. Meanwhile, his father will have to make an important decision, will he have to face his fear of repeating mistakes or will he leave his past behind once and for all and become the father whose Atreus really need?

Sony Santa Monica promises that father and son will have new abilities, as well as weapons such as the Leviathan Axe, the Swords of Chaos or the Guardian Shield. The Spartan will again use his divine powers to fight against gods and monsters, during a mission through the Nine Kingdoms where he will have to do everything to protect his family.

God of War Ragnarök goes on sale November 9 exclusively on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Everything about God of War Ragnarok

A little history

After many God of war games, Kratos is embarked on a thrilling new story. In Norse mythology, Ragnarök refers to a dramatic time. This period is characterized by:

  • The end of the world,
  • The endless winter season (three years without sun),
  • The decline of the main gods of the Nordic Pantheon,
  • The extermination of the Earth which will be carried out by successive natural disasters.

In the new version of God of War Ragnarök, Kratos must prevent Ragnarök. Since Thor takes on Kratos and his son Atreus, Kratos’ mission becomes more complicated to accomplish.

God of War Ragnarök game editions

Both physical and digital editions exist for any PlayStation game, including this one. It’s not like playing sports betting, when you make a pre-order, two benefits are already offered to you:

Among other things, digital content is taken into consideration. The three best perks are Blackvale Armor for Kratos, Blackvale Outfit for Atreus, and Blackvale Blade Sleeves for Blades of Chaos.

The Digital Deluxe Edition

It is clear that the game only has the dematerialized version, i.e. the physical edition is therefore not available. God of War Ragnarök official digital soundtrack and PlayStation 4 theme are among them.

The Collector’s Edition

Know that all the content of the digital Deluxe edition is there, as well as the game in digital format which is accessible via the PS4 and PS5. Also available are the dwarven dice game and the 40cm statue of Mjöllnir, not to mention the replica of Thor’s hammer.

PS5: “God of War Ragnarök” will make the nine kingdoms accessible?

“As the forces of Asgard prepare for the prophesied clash that will destroy the world, Kratos and Atreus must explore the nine realms in search of answers”, can we read. But that’s not all !

“During their journey, they will discover fascinating mythical landscapes and fight terrifying enemies, monsters and Norse gods. Ragnarök is getting more and more threatening. Kratos and Atreus will have to choose between their safety and that of the realms”, further specifies the page of the PS5 game.

According to new information, the nine kingdoms of the saga will thus be accessible in God of War Ragnarok. A welcome novelty when you know that some kingdoms were not playable in the first opus!

Among the nine kingdoms, four were available in God of War first of the name: Midgard, Alfeim, Helheim and Jötunheim. Two can be visited to choose from for additional content, Niflheim and Muspelheim. Gold, Asgard, Vanaheim and Svartalfheim were inaccessible. Which will therefore be the case on PS5 in God of War Ragnarök!

However, as before, the difficulties encountered by our two protagonists will not only come from the outside and Kratos will once again have to confront his terrible past:
