Ghost of Tsushima coming to PC? What there is to know !
The release of Ghost of Tsushima marks the end of Playstation 4 exclusives. The game is indeed the last exclusive to be released on the console, leaving room for news excluded from Playstation 5. However, we have recently been treated to a whole series of announcements of the release of games, which were initially excluded from PS4, on PC. Among these releases, we can for example cite Horizon Zero Dawn which should arrive this summer, or Death Stranding which should be released in July. We can therefore wonder if Sony has the same fate for Ghost of Tsushima, releasing a PC version of the game.
A game published by Playstation, for the Playstation
At the moment, there are absolutely no rumors about the arrival of a Ghost of Tsushima on PC. As the game is published by Sony, it is currently only intended to be played on PS4. Especially since the studio developing the game, namely Sucker Punch, is known to develop games for the Playstation, and it is therefore difficult to see how a PC version of the game could arrive.
Context is also a factor against a PC release. Indeed, Ghost of Tsushima is the very last Sony exclusive to release on the console, and releasing a PC version would not be something beneficial vis-à-vis the image. Sony must mark the occasion by finishing in style on a big exclusivity, a point on which the firm has always performed in the past.
A petition for a PC release
Ghost of Tsushima has won over many PC gamers with its immersive universe and sumptuous settings. A certain “James Smith” has decided to launch a petition asking Sony to carry out a PC port of the game. This petition has for the moment collected around 5000 signatures, on that it is enough to make things happen.
Ghost of Tsushima playable on PC via PSNow?
You may not have known it, but it is possible to play a plethora of Playstation games through PSNOW, a Cloud Gaming service offered by Sony. In a way, this service allows you to play games that you don’t physically own, using the cloud. The game therefore does not run on your machine, but on the Sony server, which sends you the game image in real time. This service therefore requires a large internet connection.
Currently, many Playstation exclusives are playable via PSNow. We can for example quote The Last of Us, or God of War 3. We can therefore expect to see Ghost of Tsushima land. PC players will however have to wait a little while before this possible arrival of Ghost of Tsushima on the PSNow.
The advantage of this type of service is that it is possible to play the game from any medium, including poorly performing machines. So you can run the game on a simple laptop, even if it has entry-level components.
To sum up, Ghost of Tsushima will probably never be released on PC, however Sony is expected to make the game playable through PSNow, but no sequel.
