The hunt for the impostor will take on a whole new scale: the studio Schell Games has announced the upcoming release ofAmong Us VR, a virtual reality version of the ultra-popular multiplayer game from Innersloth. Featured during the Game Awards, a short trailer already shows what the virtual werewolf game will look like from this new perspective, with release slated for PlayStationVR, Meta Quest, and SteamVR headsets.

The low blows, this time in VR

Among Us VR is developed by the studio Schell Games, veterans of virtual reality to whom we owe Until You Fall in 2020 or the series I Expect You To Die in 2016 and 2021. The short trailer posted on YouTube unveils a small clip of Among Us gameplay in first person view.

We can thus see one of the tasks incumbent on the participants during the games, where the player must enter a combination on a numeric keypad. The artistic direction of the original game seems to be transcribed identically, with a cell-shading befitting the sober and uncluttered design of the sets.

It remains to be seen how the Among Us gaming experience will be transposed into virtual reality. This release promises to keep the core mechanics of the game — until we discover more gameplay in the days, or weeks, or months, or years to come…

Expected release … one day

Because yes: absolutely no release date is mentioned in this first official trailer. We imagine that the title is still in its early stages of development and that we will still have to wait a long time before going on an impostor hunt in VR.

Already available on PC and mobile devices, Among Us recently got a version for home consoles. A Nintendo Switch version was released during the month of December 2020, while the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S versions are expected for December 14.
