[HOT] : MIUI: Xiaomi exceeds 500 million users milestone
Xiaomi has just passed a symbolic milestone. In fact, more than 500 million people around the world use a smartphone under MIUI, the manufacturer’s Android-based home overlay. The Chinese company confirmed the news on Weibo, the main Chinese social network.
Xiaomi has just taken a symbolic milestone: that of the 500 million users under MIUI worldwide. The manufacturer announced the good news on Weibo, the main Chinese social network. This is an honorable performance for the Chinese brand, which, as a reminder, was launched in 2010. In just eleven years, the company has experienced exceptional growth. Admittedly, the American sanctions decreed against Huawei have greatly benefited the success of Xiaomi.
For the occasion, Xiaomi has drawn up a short history of MIUI’s journey. In 2015, the brand registered 100 million users using MIUI, its in-house Android-based overlay. It took three more years to reach 200 million. Then the number of users only increased exponentially, rising to 300 million in October 2019, then 400 million in January 2021.
And it only took only ten months for Xiaomi to go from 400 to 500 million, this milestone having been reached on November 22, 2021. These figures confirm Xiaomi in the hope of achieving its objective: to become the world number one in the smartphone market. As a study by Canalys published in October 2021 demonstrated, Xiaomi still occupies third place in the ranking with a 14% market share.
Xiaomi does not lose sight of its goal: to become world No. 1
Apple is still in second place with 15% market share, while Samsung is still the undisputed leader with 23% market share. It should be remembered, however, that the Chinese brand and the Cupertino company are regularly neck and neck. Indeed, Xiaomi was indeed ahead of Apple during the second quarter of 2021 with 14% against 12% for the Apple brand.
And if Xiaomi is currently deploring a significant drop in its revenues, in particular because of the success of the iPhone 13 and the shortage of components, the manufacturer has several cards up its sleeve for the end of the year 2021 and the beginning of 2022. In first, the brand must unveil the Xiaomi 12, 12 Pro and 12 Ultra very soon. It’s a safe bet that this generation is shaking up its competitors in the premium segment.
For good reason, they will be the first smartphones to embed a Snapdragon 898, the latest processor from Qualcomm. This is the very first chip engraved in 4 nm and it promises up to 30% more performance compared to the Snapdragon 888. Then, Xiaomi must also deploy in 2022 MIUI 13, the new version of its overlay, which s announcement already full of new features.
