[HOT] : MN09 hard drive for NAS, Toshiba announces 18 TB at 7200 rpm
Toshiba completes its range of hard drives for NAS MN09 with the addition of an 18TB model. Its weapons are a large storage capacity and greater energy efficiency.
This new reference in the MN09 range is a 3.5 inch hard drive with a capacity of 18 TB. We find a conventional approach in the form of a magnetic recording drive (CMR) sealed with helium. At the heart of its mechanics 9 trays are in action. They take advantage of FC-MAMR (Microwave Assisted Magnetic Recording) flow control technology.

The MN09 is the 3rd generation hard drive to use the 9-drive helium sealed mechanical design. Toshabi emphasizes
“MAMR is a solution that expands the data capabilities of the hard drive. The ability of the hard disk using a new MAMR head to greatly improve the write capacity of the MAS (Microwave Assisted Switching) effect has been developed recently. “
This MN09 is designed to run 24/7 and has a workload of 180TB per year. The 18 TB 7200 rpm NAS drive is equipped with a 512 MB buffer memory. It achieves a maximum throughput of 268 MB / s.
