[HOT] : Steam Deck: The list of compatible games has just grown, thank you Epic Games!

pic Games gave Valve a nice gift by making its Easy Anti-Cheat anti-cheat software compatible on Linux and macOS. Indeed, this port is the big deal of the Steam Deck, whose operating system is a derivative of Linux. As a result, several games, such as Apex Legends and Fall Guys will theoretically be able to join the game library of the portable console.

Only a few more months to wait before the Steam Deck arrives in the hands of the players who have pre-ordered it. During its announcement, Valve was able to convince the most skeptical by presenting a portable console that has it under the hood, exceeding in particular the 30 FPS on certain titles. But there is one point that still worries: that of the compatibility of games. If, in theory, we can find the entire Steam library, the truth is a little more complicated than that.

Indeed, SteamOS, the operating system of the console, is a derivative of linux, which narrows the field of possibilities. The Steam Deck could make up for it by offering xCloud when it is released, according to some rumors, but still some games will be missing. That being said, Epic Games has just removed a hell of a thorn from Valve’s side. The developer has just announced that its Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) anti-cheat software can now be launched on Linux and Mac. Until now, it was only supported by Windows.

STEAM DECK WILL TURN APEX LEGENDS AND FALL GUYS

Several games, so far incompatible with the Steam Deck because requiring this software, will be able to join the game library if the developers decide to carry out the port. Among them, we find in particular the very popular Apex Legends et Fall Guys, but also Hunt : Showdown or Dead By Daylight.

What’s more, Valve promises in the Steam Deck FAQ that more anti-cheat software should join the list soon. “We are working with BattlEye and Easy Anti-Cheat to ensure their anti-cheat systems are supported before launch,” it read. With BattlEye, the Steam Deck would pick up other big names in video games, like Fornite, PUBG or Rainbow Six Siege.
