[HOT] : The photo sensors of the Mac, the iPhone and the iPad targeted by a patent-troll

KT Imaging, a patent-troll (patent manager without product creation) has just launched a complaint against Apple targeting patents relating to photo sensors on Macs, iPhones and iPads. As usual with this type of case, the complaint was filed in the West District Court of Texas, a court generally very favorable to patent-trolls. The patents involved in the complaint – numbers 7,196,322, 7,511,261, 7,598,580, 8,004,602 and 8,314,481 – were filed between 2004 and 2008 (and some updated recently).

These patents mainly relate to technologies for manufacturing CMOS sensors, ie “a substrate having an upper surface and a lower surface on which second electrodes are integrated”. The machines targeted in the complaint are the 4th generation iPad, iPad mini, iPhone 6s, iPhone 8 Plus and MacBook Air.

Finally, it should be noted that KTI has already brought legal action against Kyocera, Lightcomm Technology, Panasonic, Acer, Asus, Foxconn, LG, Microsoft, Google or even Samsung. The patent-troll is an animal endowed with a sacred physical form …
