[HOT] : Xbox Game Pass: Microsoft narrowly misses its targets, but continues to seduce with the service
The strategy of Microsoft keeps revolving around the Xbox Game Pass in recent years, and the expansion of this service is arguably even more important to the manufacturer than the number of Xbox Series sold. So inevitably, the results generated by the subscription are scrutinized, and if the latest assessment is good for the service, it is not as good as Microsoft had hoped.
A service that is doing very well, but slowing down
Axios today reveals new details on the latest known figures for Xbox Game Pass, which end as of June 30. During the previous year, Xbox Game Pass subscribers increased by 37%, which is a notable development that normally makes Microsoft smile. But the American company aimed higher, however, since in its provisional balance sheet, the firm wanted to reach 48% more subscribers over this period.
The previous year (from 2019 to 2020), Microsoft had greatly exceeded its goal of 71% more subscribers by registering 86% more subscriptions (still compared to the previous year). On the other hand, it is not known how many subscribers exactly there are now on Xbox Game Pass, except that the number is expected to exceed 18 million.
If we note a (legitimate) drop in speed, we imagine that Microsoft is counting heavily on the coming months to increase the craze around the service, in particular with the release of Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite, not to mention Starfield at the end of 2022.
