How to connect your PlayStation 4 with your Windows PC or Mac to play remotely

Today we are going to explain how to remote play on your PlayStation 4 from your Windows PC or Mac. It is a function called Remote Play on your PS4, with which only by downloading an application to your computer you can connect to your console and manage it remotely while you watch everything that happens by streaming on your monitor.

In order to use this system, you will need to connect the DualShock controller to your PC. You will also need a PlayStation Network account, since you have to be with it on both devices, and have a high-speed connection of at least 15 Mbps for the game to be smooth.

In terms of specifications, these are the minimum hardware characteristics that you will need on both Windows and Mac so that everything works correctly:

How to use your PS4 from the PC

The first thing you have to do is go to the Remote Play website of your Sony PS4. In her, click on the Windows or Mac PC options to download the installer of the application with which you will be able to connect to the console from the computer.

The installation process consists of four windows. The first is welcome and you just have to click Next. In the second window you will have to approve the user license marking the option that you agree and clicking Next. In the third step you can choose the folder where the application is installed and click Next, which takes you to a fourth window in which you are told that everything is ready, and you just have to press the Install button.

Once installed, open the Remote Play application on your PS4. In the first window you will be told that you must connect the PS4 DualShock 4 controller to the computerEither setting it up via Bluetooth or wired. When you connect it with one of these two methods, to start you can just connect it by USB, press the Options button on the remote.

When you press the Options button on the controller, you will go to a screen where you can configure the data collection of this application. You can choose between simply collecting what is necessary to make it work or collecting usage and browsing data as well. By default it will collect all the data it can, so in this window you can click on Modify setting to change the configuration, and when you do, click Confirm and continue.

In the next step you will have to log in with your PlayStation account. Just put the same email and password that you already use in your console profile and hit the Login button. If you have your password protected by a two-step verification, you will also have to enter the SMS code here to confirm your identity.

The application will then proceed to detect the console. It is very possible, at least it has happened to me, that I cannot connect it automatically. In that case, it will ask you to do it manually. To do this, you have to go to the Settings menu of your PS4, enter the Connection Settings section of Remote Play, and click on Add device. When you do it, the console will show you a code that you have to write in the application in the box you have for it.

And that’s it. When you enter the code and click on Register, you will automatically connect to the console from the PC. You will do it by streaming, which means that everything you do from the controller connected to the PC you will do it on the console, and the result will be seen back in the application. Here, the better connection you have, the more fluid you will see the image.
