Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter, made a statement yesterday on the controversy that has involved, throughout this last week the measures taken by his social network against the accounts of Donald Trump and many of his followers (Only between the 8th and 11th of this month, Twitter closed 70,000 accounts in the wake of the Capitol events).

In them, he defended the measures adopted as the “correct for Twitter”, as said “not be proud” of them, acknowledging that they could set a dangerous precedent. He also admitted that his company was applying its policies inconsistently. and without adequate transparency.

However, a video leaked today by the conservative project Veritas, starring Dorsey himself and filmed by a Twitter employee on the 8th, shows that the head of Twitter would be maintaining a double discourse regarding this controversy, offering internally different arguments from those held before the general public:

In this video, Dorsey maintains that the censorship of accounts is aimed at “protecting the integrity of the conversation” in a “divided” society and warned a week ago that

“This is going to affect a lot more than just one account, and it is going to continue for much longer than today or this week. We will continue for the next few weeks and beyond the opening ceremony. ”.

Dorsey also cited the massive censorship of accounts linked to the QAnon movement as “one of those examples of a much broader approach that we should be evaluating and deepening“.
