Alert: the price of the Navigo pass will increase in 2023

If the amount of the increase is not yet fixed, the Navigo pass will in any case be more expensive in 2023. In question: the increase in the price of energy and the increase in the operating costs of the RATP network.

We thought that the metro was already making us grumble enough because of its incessant delays and the sometimes unbearable people found there, but apparently, it’s far from over: the pass at 75 euros, it’s over. This Wednesday, September 14, Valérie Pécresse, president of Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) and the region, announced that subscription to the Paris transport network should increase in 2023.

Whether the amount of this increase has not yet been determined, it nevertheless seems inevitable. With inflation, the cost of energy and raw materials would make it impossible to maintain current prices. Added to this is a drop in traffic on RATP lines, as well as an increase in operating costs, according to the Parisian.

Negotiations to be done with the State and the communities

In total, Île-de-France Mobilités would be short of no less than 950 million euros for the year 2023. So that this shortfall is not fully impacted on the price of subscriptions, the State, the communities, but also the RATP and the SNCF will have to make an effort. If the region has already found 200 million euros by reducing certain expenses, Valérie Pécresse ensures that the Navigo pass will not be lowered further.
