Minecraft cross-platform version postponed for Nintendo Switch

The cross platform version of Minecraft is now available for Windows 10, Xbox One, Android, iOS and VR devices. The Switch version of the game will launch at a later date.

In the new version of the game it is possible for gamers on different platforms to play together. New updates for Minecraft will also come first to this new version from now on.

Microsoft also announced that it is possible for Xbox One users to transfer savegames from older versions. A number of skin packs are also transferable.

A release date for the Switch version has not yet been set. “Together with our partners at Nintendo, we are working on the cross-platform functionality. It’s a very exciting, but also very complex development process,” said Microsoft.

The original Java version of Minecraft launched in 2011 for the PC. Minecraft for Nintendo 3DS was also recently announced.
