Minecraft Earth will close in June
It was in November 2019 that Mojang started Minecraft Earth, an augmented reality mobile game that tried to combine the real world with the Minecraft experience that is so popular.
The concept of freely exploring your surroundings to find Minecraft-style buildings in the real world clashed with the new reality, in which we deal with a pandemic and social isolation. In view of this, Mojang decided to close Minecraft Earth on June 30, 2021.
According to a statement by the company, “we made the difficult decision to redistribute our resources to other areas and provide value to the Minecraft community and end support for Minecraft Earth in June 2021.”
The game received a last update, designed to make the last few months as fun as possible.
This update also removes the possibility to buy items with real money, reduces costs in processes and the time requirement to manufacture items and tools.
Whoever spent money on Minecraft Earth will receive MineCoins to use in the Minecraft market and buy skins or other digital items in the main game.
