Minecraft has sold over 200 million copies

Microsoft has released several milestones for Minecraft, which yesterday marked 11 years since its launch in public beta.

Mojang’s (now Mojang Studios) game has sold over 200 million copies since its commercial release.

That’s twice as many copies as just four years ago and four times more than when Microsoft bought Mojang in 2014 for $ 2.5 billion.

In addition, the game registers 126 million monthly active users. According to Daniel Ahmad of the consulting firm Niko Partners, this figure includes the players of the F2P version available in China, which has more than 300 million registered players.

Can also add 300m registered players across the PC and Mobile version of the game in China.

Minecraft is F2P in China where it is published by NetEase.

Minecraft Dungeons, the dungeon crawler set in the Mojang universe, will be released on May 26 on PC, PS4, Switch and Xbox One. It will be available at launch on Game Pass.
