Minecraft removes references to Markus ‘Notch’ Persson in its latest update

The latest Minecraft update has removed the game’s references to Markus ‘Notch’ Persson, its original creator and founder of Mojang.

In the 19W13A patch notes, Mojang claims that messages that mentioned Notch, such as “Made by Notch!” (done by Notch), “The Work of Notch!” (Notch’s work) or “110813!”, a reference to their wedding date.

Although no official reason has been given for such a decision, it is possible that his behavior in public had something to do with it. In recent years, Notch has been at the center of controversy on many occasions for its racist messages and contrary to groups that suffer discrimination, a behavior that is far from being exemplary for the millions of children who play Minecraft.

Despite that, his name can still be seen in the game’s credits.
