This update marks the New World debut of the Twinkling Black Dragon Alatreon, the Frostfang Barioth monster variant, a new seasonal game event, and much more. The Iceborne team has released the sixth developer video dedicated to the update showing what’s coming in future updates, including the Master Rank layered armor and the arrival of a fan-favorite monster in the New World.
All hunters on List A know that proper preparation prevents poor performance during a hunt. Faced with the unstable elemental nature of the Alatreon, even the best equipped will have to put their plans and supplies to the test. Depending on whether the Alatreon has entered the elemental state of Dragon, Fire, or Ice, any potential raider must change their tactics to anticipate a devastating number of attacks from both the air and the ground. Keep in mind that once Alatreon prepares his powerful Escaton Judgment attack, only those that deal damage with the correct element can help minimize the incoming shock wave. Hunters who are fired to deal with this draconian threat now that it has arrived must prepare to withstand all the elements or risk having their squad freeze.
Hot on the heels of the Alatreon, the chilling new variant of the Seasoned Frostfang Barioth monster will be available to all Iceborne players as part of a limited-time event mission arriving on August 7. This new variant of Barioth exhales a blast of icy wind that freezes the ground to make every encounter a battle for positional advantage. Even hunters who think they have the superiority after forcing the Frostfang Barioth back must be careful of its ice breath while it recovers. Those hoping to surpass this icy fighter must prepare to fight tooth and nail for a shot at victory.
All hunters who are brave and skilled enough to overcome these encounters will be rewarded with materials to forge new top-tier Palico gear, armor with a new set of bonus abilities, and decorative pendants.
New seasonal event
From July 22 to August 6, the Seliana Lunar Terrace will celebrate summer with the new Effervescent Spice Festival. The meetinghouse also looks to add to the heat, with new opulent canteen dining, carnival-inspired decorations, new Poogie apparel, seasonal Palico gear, seasonal Handler apparel, and a new snowman design. Hunters who want to spice up their wardrobe can redeem for access bonuses, seasonal rewards and event missions to obtain the new Passion á + armor, new layered armor such as monstrous new Kelbi and Aptonoth armor, ears of rabbit and much more.
Game settings and new downloadable content
The fourth title update also includes a host of new gameplay features and paid content for hunters to enjoy. Hunters looking for elusive monsters can now use Alchemy with the non-playable character Elder Melder to create special clues. These special clues draw a specific monster of their choice while they are in the Guiding Lands, making it easier than ever for players to control the monsters they encounter. Fashion hunters who want to show off their new weapons and armor can now choose even more exciting pendant designs. Upon returning from the field, hunters can choose from a new series of paid content options for their room, including new monster figures, music options and decorations inspired by the Lynian monsters. Finally, those interested in showing off their progress on Iceborne can choose from a number of new Squad and Guild Card designs to help showcase their hunters’ achievements.
More challenges and surprises await the intrepid hunters of the Fifth Fleet, with the debut of Master Rank layered armor and the arrival in the New World in the next unannounced monster title update. More information on this fan favorite character coming soon.
