More details of the HomePod mini: non-interchangeable USB-C cable and 20W charger included

While waiting for Apple to open the reservation period for the new HomePod mini, we are discovering some other details about this new smart speaker. Thanks to MacRumors we have new information on the type of cable and connector that will accompany this new HomePod.

Non-interchangeable USB-C and charger included

The new HomePod mini will come with a USB-C terminated cable and will include a 20-watt charger. Undoubtedly good news, since thanks to the type of connector we can connect this new HomePod mini to many devices. So we could use it connected to a MacBook or even plug it into a powerbank, like this one from AUKEY we saw a few months ago, and using our new speaker without relying on plugs.

Same as the original HomePod the HomePod mini cable should not be unplugged from the device. I say “must” because shortly after the arrival of the first HomePod it was discovered that, with enough force, the cable would loosen and could be plugged back in, something Apple strongly discourages. We do not know if in the HomePod mini this will be an option or simply the cable will be integrated into the speaker without the possibility of removing it.

Of course, it will be with the arrival of the first units when we can evaluate characteristics such as sound quality, for example, but while we can start to get used to the idea that the HomePod mini will be a much more versatile device than it seems.

IPhone 13 rumors not waiting: Touch ID, no ports and 120Hz display by 2021

Let’s remember that the new HomePod mini, like the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max, will open its reservations on November 6 and the first units will arrive on November 16.
