Path of Exile 2 is likely to be released in 2022
PC Gamer recently interviewed a developer from Grinding Gear Games, Chris Wilson. One of the topics of the conversation was the game Path of Exile 2. It turns out that the sequel to the popular free hack’n’slash will probably only make its debut in 2022. The reason is the problems caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
I hate to blame COVID for this sort of thing, but that’s largely behind the delay. We had difficulty hiring from overseas as New Zealand is closed, which has somewhat limited our ability to dynamically expand our content development team. Progress has not been as fast as we wanted, so our goal is to focus as much as we can on Path of Exile 2 in 2021 and see how much we can get done. We will try to do as much as possible to allow us to estimate the possible release date. We should have passed it by the end of the year, ”said Chris Wilson.
The wait for PoE2 will certainly be made more pleasant by the addition to the “one” The Echoes of Atlas, which will debut on January 15th. In the expansion we will find new locations and bosses with aesthetics referring to the continuation. Unfortunately, there is some bad news in this area as well – it will probably be the biggest new content package to hit PoE this year. After its premiere, the developers plan to focus on the sequel. The first installment of the series will continue to receive quarterly updates, but they will be smaller.
Path of Exile 2 was announced in November 2019, during ExileCon 2019, which is events for fans of the brand. It should be noted that PoE2 will not be a completely standalone production, but rather a very extensive addition to the first game, which will introduce numerous changes to the gameplay mechanics and offer another story campaign.
