‘Patria’, ‘Veneno’ and Michael Robinson among the television winners of the prestigious awards

Ràdio Barcelona de SER has announced this afternoon the winners of the 67th edition of the Ondas Awards, the most veteran of today’s radio and television. Organized by the PRISA group, this year the jury had to make a selection among 490 candidatures from around twenty countries.

In the television section, the one that matters most to us in this medium, we were slightly surprised to see among the winners some of the series that are in emission right now: for the jury, ‘Patria’ it’s the best drama while the award for best female performer has been taken equally the three trans actresses who have given life to Cristina Ortiz in ‘Poison’. According to the jury, they “make the series work perfectly as a vindication and visibility of the trans cause.”

In addition, the organization wanted to remember one of the most beloved television figures, with a posthumous Ondas for best presenter for Michael Robinson, who died last April. The jury wanted to highlight:

Michael Robinson, an exceptional person who became a media celebrity, with a great ability to convey his passion and enthusiasm for football and, above all, for life. As his friend John Carlin wrote, “Michael was loved by the sympathy that he emanated, above all, but part of his success as a public figure in Spain was due to the contrast so much his, so trademark of the house, between the English accent with the that he spoke Castilian and his absolute command of Spanish slang. He always peppered our conversations – Carlin said – even if they were in English with words like cocoon, pringao, chorizo, tacky, or expressions like “I’m sweating it”, “selling the bike”, “silly a*s” and “don’t touch my balls ”.
