PlayStation 4 update 4.00 adds support HDR

Sony is releasing update 4.00 for the PlayStation 4. Among other things, the patch adds support for High Dynamic Range (HDR) to every type of PlayStation 4.

A post on the PlayStation blog states that the patch introduces a new interface, among other things. In addition, you will have access to new backgrounds, adjusted icons and improved pop-up notifications.

Thanks to the update, the Quick Menu also covers only part of the screen, so you don’t have to leave a game. The Quick Menu also has a new Music option that allows you to manage Spotify, among other things, without opening the app for the service.

The patch also allows you to transfer data and saves over a wired LAN connection. You also get the option to create folders yourself that can be added to your Home screen and your Library.

Sony hosted a special PlayStation Meeting last week. During the event, the company unveiled the PlayStation 4 Pro release and price, among other things.
