Pokémon Go ends support for older phones – are you affected?

Support will end in October

Android and Apple devices are affected
Niantic has announced that it will soon end support for some older phones and operating systems.
As far as operating systems are concerned, devices with Android 5 as well as iOS 10 and iOS 11 are affected.
The company also explicitly names the iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 as affected iOS devices, which are then no longer supported by the game.
Further examples for devices with Android 5: Google Nexus 10, HTC Desire 520, LG G Pro 2, Motorola Moto G (1st gen), Motorola Moto X (1st gen), Oppo R7s, Samsung Galaxy Note3, Samsung Galaxy E5, Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy Alpha, Samsung Galaxy J1, Sony Xperia Z1, Sony Xperia Z and Xiaomi MI 2.
This should happen with an update that will be released for the game in October. An appointment to the day is still pending.
Meanwhile, the new Mega Raid challenge in Pokémon Go started today.
There’s another spotlight hour tonight at 6 p.m., and there’s a new Pokémon for a Field Research Breakthrough starting today.
Support for various older cell phones will be discontinued.
