Pokémon Go: How to catch Binacle and Barbaracle
Binacle is the star Pokémon of Sustainability Week – the current in-game event for Pokémon Go.
With the arrival of Binacle, you will also be able to add its evolution, Barbaracle, to your Pokédex for Gen 6.
Binacle will spawn in the wild throughout Sustainability Week, but if you’re having trouble finding one, it will make an appearance in raids and as a reward for research assignments.

How to get Binacle in the latest Pokémon Go event
Binacle, along with its evolution Barbaracle, are the last Gen 6 Pokémon to debut in Pokémon Go, and their release is part of the Sustainability Week event.
While Binacle is available in the wild, it could, like previous Gen 6 Pokémon, be quite difficult to find. Fortunately, there are several other ways to catch a Binacle during the event.
You can find Binacle at the Sustainability Week event from:
- finding them in nature
- One star raid
- Task Completion – ‘Use 3 Golden Berries to Catch Pokémon’
- Complete the ‘Use an Incense’ challenge in the third phase of the week-time research of sustainability
If you’re having trouble finding Binacle in the wild, your best chance of catching one is to defeat it in a raid or complete the Sustainability Week timed quest.
While Binacle will most likely continue to make an appearance after the event ends, the distribution of the new Pokémon continues to be difficult to predict. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you catch at least Binacle during Sustainability Week; in this way you can have him as a companion and collect enough candies to make him evolve into Barbaracle.
Binacle and the Barbaracle evolution in Pokémon Go
If you want to evolve Binacle into Barbaracle into Pokémon Go, you will need to collect at least 50 Binacle Candies.
Both Binacle and Barbaracle are rock and water type Pokémon, in keeping with their inspiration for barnacles.
If trained properly, Barbaracle could be a good choice for the Mega League, as it would have a slight edge over Skarmory, Marowak and Umbreon of Alola, who are very popular choices for this league.
Most likely, however, you’ll catch these Pokémon to fill your Pokédex, so be sure to catch a couple of Binacles before Sustainability Week ends!
