Pokémon Sword / Shield: Mexican newspaper thinks “Pokémon Gun” is real

Shortly after the announcement of Pokémon Sword / Shield, various memes made the rounds on the Internet.

One of them is a logo created by a fan for a supposed “Pokémon Gun”.

Fans know, of course, that this is not real. But that doesn’t go down everywhere, for example with the Mexican local newspaper “La voz de Michoacán” (via Destructoid).

According to Twitter user cin_ceja, the Pokémon Gun logo was there next to the two logos for Pokémon Sword and Shield on a picture. Another user named seekernami adds that at least the article does not speak of this fake version. Whoever picked the picture made the mistake.

The picture shows the rather innocent-looking starter Pokémon Chimpep next to the logo with the gun.

Other starter Pokémon include Hopplo and Memmeon. Both were more popular with fans than Chimpep, as polls from the official Pokémon accounts on Twitter show.

Pokémon Sword and Shield will be coming to Switch in late 2019.
