‘PS5 and Xbox Series X will not impact Switch sales this year’
The president of Nintendo, Shuntaro Furukawa, discussed how the company feels comfortable despite the imminent arrival of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X later this year.
In a Q&A session with investors and analysts, Furukawa revealed that the owner of the platform believes the launch of the next-gen consoles of Sony is Microsoft it will change the industry, but this change will have no impact on Nintendo’s business.
“We will explain the specific figures for the next fiscal year in our next announcement,” he said, “I think there will definitely be a change in the environment as new products from our competitors are launched.”
Furukawa added that “we don’t believe other companies’ business trends will have a significant impact on our business.”
The rumors had indicated a more powerful Switch model coming in 2020, so that Nintendo could compete with more advanced hardware, such as those of the PS5 and Xbox Series X. However, the reports have been denied by the Japanese giant as there would be no ” plans to launch a new Nintendo Switch model during 2020. “
Sales of the Switch are doing very well after Nintendo announced that it has sold over 52 million units since its launch in 2017.
Of these, 5.19 million units are Switch Lite, launched only in September 2019 and aimed at families and children, unlike the original model and the hypothetical Pro version.
And do you agree with Furukawa?
