Grab your reins and friends, because it’s time to hit them until they start playing the Red Dead Online beta with you this week. Also in the Night Watch: worldwide PAL on the PlayStation Classic, an action shot of Hellboy, two new characters for Mario Tennis Aces, and more. Good morning!

Already on the road with friend and foe in Red Dead Redemption 2 online beta this week

Anyone who has purchased the Ultimate Edition of Red Dead Redemption 2 can get started with the Red Dead Online beta today. The rest of the players will also get their turn this week, but there are a few requirements. On November 28, the beta will be accessible to everyone who played the game on release. Anyone who played in the launch weekend, from October 26 to October 29, can loose in Red Dead Online a day later. Finally, anyone who owns Red Dead Redemption 2 (regardless of the edition) will get access on November 30th.

The servers in Red Dead Online can handle up to 32 players, and of those 32 you can form your own Posse with a total of seven people. Whether you go fishing, complete co-op missions, rob banks, humiliate other players or go shopping with each other, it’s up to you. In any case, there will be special co-op events and challenges and pitched set-piece battles on top of the confrontations that will undoubtedly erupt at unexpected moments with other Posses.

Rockstar hasn’t confirmed an end date for the Red Dead Online beta, but at least it will be free for everyone. For the ‘real’ Red Dead Online you will probably need a PS + or Xbox Live Gold subscription, at least that’s how it goes in GTA Online. The end of the beta may be directly linked to the release of Red Dead Online, wait and see.

Nine games on PlayStation Classic are PAL version

In the run-up to the release of the PlayStation Classic next week, Sony is sharing more info about the device. For example, the developer / publisher announces via the PlayStation blog that nine games use the PAL versions thereof. That is to say that they have a refresh rate of 50 Hz, something you will especially notice in a game like Tekken 3. Compared to the NTSC version with a refresh rate of 60 Hz, you would theoretically have a lower frame rate – that can be pretty in such a fighting game. But then again, we were not used to anything else here and certainly did not play on today’s TVs, so we will experience it when the PlayStation Classic comes out. It does that just in time for package evening, namely on December 3. Here the full list of PAL games:

  • Battle Arena Toshinden
  • Cool Boarders 2
  • Destruction Derby
  • Grand Theft Auto
  • Jumping Flash!
  • Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee
  • Resident Evil Director’s Cut
  • Tekken 3
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six

Peekaboo, it’s Hellboy

In case you haven’t noticed, there’s a reboot of Hellboy coming. This time, the franchise is in the hands of horror director Neil Marshall, and that may bring some clichés. Running panically down a dark hallway? Check. Or is Hellboy – aka actor David Harbor – doing something else here? Check it out in the cinema, from April 11.

Meet new old-school shooter Prodeus

The Guard is quite in love with shooters of the old hour. What once started with Doom blossomed into a bloody love of high-speed gunplay, a lack of cover, and normal health pickups. The fact that there are still game makers today who write a love letter to such first person shooters in the form of a new one, is therefore a pleasure for the Guard. Prodeus is such a game, although it seems that the devs still need to improve a few things. That forced ‘classic’ resolution still looks strange, but this is also just a reveal tralier:

Citizen chain hooks up quite funny on Red Dead Redemption 2 hype

De Wacht does not want to pay too much attention to companies that use its lazy gamer slut, but this is a nice idea. A certain burger chain – what a subtlety – has an action in Sweden where gamers can score a burger via Red Dead Redemption 2. By collecting a Bread Roll, Cheese Wedge, Pork Loin and Prime Beef in-game and proving it through the magic of the internet, they can pick up a free burger (sauce).

Added Shy Guy and Petey Piranha as bonuses to Mario Tennis Aces for December tournaments

Mario Tennis Aces players will soon be able to unlock two characters by entering tournaments. Participating in a singles tournament will earn Petey Piranha, while a doubles tournament will add Shy Guy to the roster. These are exclusively online tournaments, which means that you must have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Both characters, previously announced during a Nintendo Direct, will be available from December 1 of this year to January 1, 2019. Shy Guy gets along pretty well with his balloons, and Petey Piranha doesn’t even need a tennis racket and hits with his leaves – you don’t need more reasons to use them.

It will be easier to clean up the massive mess in Serial Cleaner

Fans asked for it, and the developer gives it: an easy mode for Serial Cleaner. Apparently it was a bit too difficult for some to calmly clean up the blood traces in the game, but that should change from November 29. The Easier to Clean update will be available from then on, exclusively on PC. The Xbox One, PS4 and Switch versions are not getting the update yet.

PC port Yakuza Kiwami may be out earlier than expected

It is far from certain, but it looks like Yakuza Kiwami’s PC port may be out soon. The port was announced earlier this year, but a precise release date has not yet been released. Still, someone may have found evidence of a quick release (via VG247), in the form of so-called package updates. Andrew Marmo spotted the Steam updates and shared a screenshot on Twitter. More and more Steam Achievements from Yakuza Kiwami are also being added to Steam, which usually means a release is fast approaching. Hopefully we can get started with this remake of the first Yakuza game before Christmas, only time will tell. So keep an eye on Steam!

Looks like Yakuza Kiwami port coming very soon (shadow drop) going by these latest package updates!
