Sometimes you don’t have a choice and you have to Reset PS5 or restore the original state. This can be the case for a variety of reasons, for example if it no longer works properly after an operation.

Before doing so, it is advisable to back up the data stored on it so that you do not lose any important progress.

Important notes before resetting

  • Does not turn off the PS5 console while backing up or restoring data. Failure to do so could result in data loss or damage to the console or USB drive.
  • Restoring previously backed up data will completely reset your PS5. That is, it erases all existing data in favor of the backup. This cannot be undone even if you cancel the restore.
  • Those who have never logged into PSN before can only restore the saved data to the PS5 they came from. If you want to restore the data on another console, you must log in to that console.
  • Trophies cannot be saved. Do this manually before backing up your data: Go to your profile in the top right corner of the start screen –> Trophies –> Press the Options button –> Synchronize with PlayStation Network.
