Apple has announced that its new Apple Al Maryah Island retail store in Abu Dhabi will open tomorrow, Friday, February 25, showing off the all-new shoreline-view location in the middle of the city’s prestigious financial district.
Raised above the steps of a cascading waterfall, Apple Al Maryah Island is arguably one of Apple’s finest stores to date.
Apple says, “Once inside, customers are greeted with a panoramic view of Abu Dhabi’s stunning skyline. Looking up, guests will also find a unique stretched gold fabric ceiling. Glass walls bring in natural light, with ficus trees adding greenery inside. An innovative radiant floor system combined with displacement ventilation helps cool the building.
Apple claims Apple Al Maryah Island introduces several new design elements that reflect its surroundings. From the boardwalk, two ramps paved with Absolute Black granite stone – the first use of this material at any Apple Store – cross the water and continue seamlessly inside the store.
The store also features a gold carbon fiber roof sourced locally in the United Arab Emirates. Visitors entering through the Galleria Al Maryah Island mall will pass through a mirrored stainless steel portal, enveloped by the sights and sounds of water jets cascading over the exterior glass walls. Apple says a 72-foot-long mirror-sheet ceiling “creates a kaleidoscopic effect,” with water falling on the walls.
In a statement shared Thursday, Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Retail + People, said, “We couldn’t be more thrilled to open the beautiful Apple Al Maryah Island this Friday. Our talented team is ready to welcome and delight customers from this vibrant community at our new location in the Emirates.
The new store team of over 80 members represents 28 nationalities and collectively speaks over 30 languages including Arabic, French, Hindi, Tagalog, etc. Apple Al Maryah Island opens tomorrow Friday, February 25 at 5:00 p.m. local time.

Apple has previewed images of the new Apple Al Maryah Island, a retail store located in Abu Dhabi’s financial district that will open tomorrow, February 25.
Built on the steps of the waterfalls, Al Maryah Island features several new design elements from Apple stores, which mainly reflect the surrounding environment.
‘Absolute Black’ granite stone has been used to pave the two ramps that cut through the water and lead customers into the store, while a gold carbon fiber roof is visible from above, vaguely reminiscent of the flap of a MacBook.
Visitors entering the store from The Galleria Al Maryah Island mall walk through a mirrored stainless steel wall aisle surrounded by water jets cascading down the exterior glass walls, while a mirrored sheet ceiling creates a kaleidoscopic effect, with water falling along the walls.
“We couldn’t be more excited to open the beautiful Apple Island Al Maryah this Friday,” said Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s senior vice president of Retail + People. “Our talented team is ready to welcome and delight customers from this vibrant community at our new headquarters in the Emirates.”
The store will open to visitors tomorrow, February 25 at 5 p.m. local time, and Apple has scheduled three special Today at Apple sessions that draw inspiration from Abu Dhabi’s environment and creative culture, including a photography, music and art walk. .
