More intuitive filters for Google Drive

Google continues to improve Workspace services. Determined to compete with Microsoft 365, the Mountain View company continues to correct some flaws in its flagship applications with small changes. The latest directly concerns Google Drive and its tedious search system, which is now inspired by the search filters implemented in Gmail in 2020. More concretely, users will have access to a whole range of new filters in Google Drive, ranging from the type of document to the people in the contact list, passing by the name of an attachment or the last modification date of A file. These new options will take the form of buttons housed under the search bar, but will only appear once the query has been typed. The new feature is rolling out to both workspace and personal accounts. It should be accessible to everyone within a fortnight, but seems to be reserved only for the web version of Google Drive at first.

Gmail redesign merges functions into one layout

Google’s ubiquitous messaging service is getting a makeover that merges multiple functions into a single layout. Gmail, which has over a billion users, will not only get a new look this spring, but also a new way to use Google Workspace apps while browsing your inbox. The Gmail refresh “will make it easier to move between mission-critical apps like Gmail, Chat and Meet in one unified location,” the company said in a statement.

Google began rolling out the update to personal and domain users in February, and the change is expected to hit all Gmail users in April. You can expect to see notification bubbles for chats and spaces, and you’ll be able to reply to those messages in a full pop-up. Google apps will be accessible in a drop-down menu whether the pane is open or closed. Plus, you won’t have to click through multiple tabs or open new windows to join meetings or use other features.

Although this will become the default user view in April, for a limited time you can opt out and return to the classic Gmail experience. By June, you will no longer be able to unsubscribe from the new layout as it will become standard for all users. The change affects Gmail users with personal and work accounts, excluding Google Workspace Essentials customers.

Google Drive: searching becomes child’s play with new filters

How to Email a Video

Most email providers limit the size of files you can attach to your emails. For example, in Gmail, you can only attach files up to 25MB in size. In Outlook, the attachment limit is 20MB.

This means that if the file size of your video is within the allowed limit, you can directly attach your video to your email. It will be sent as a normal attachment.

However, if the file size of your video exceeds the maximum limit, you cannot attach your video to your emails. In this case, use a cloud storage provider and upload your video there. Then add the link of your video in your email so the recipient can view and download it.

Email a video with Gmail

To use Gmail to send your video, first open a web browser on your desktop and launch the Gmail site.

Note: In the following instructions, we’ll be using the desktop version of Gmail. The procedure for the mobile application is practically the same, so follow it on your mobile if you wish.

Log in to your account on the site, or create a new free Gmail account if you don’t already have one.

Once logged in, in the upper left corner of Gmail, click on “Compose” to compose a new email. You will attach your video to this email.

Click “Compose” in the upper left corner.

If your video’s file size is 25MB or less, click “Attach Files” (a paperclip icon) at the bottom of the “New Message” window and find your video in the dialog that appears. opens.

Select “Attach Files” at the bottom of the window.

If the file size of your video is greater than 25 MB, click on the bottom of the “New message” window on “Insert files using the player”. We will select this option.

Click “Insert Files Using Drive” at the bottom of the window.

In the window that opens, click on the “Upload” tab.

Go to the “Upload” tab.

In the “Upload” tab, to add a video from your computer, click on the “Select Files From Your Device” button.

Click the “Select Files From Your Device” button.

In the “Open” window, select the video file you want to email.

Choose the video.

The video you selected will be listed in the “Upload” tab. To start downloading the video, click “Download” at the bottom of the tab.

Select “Load” at the bottom of the tab.

Gmail will upload the video you selected to Google Drive, bring you back to the “New Message” window, and automatically attach the video link to your email.

Fill out the rest of your email fields and click “Send” to send your email with your video link.

Click on the “Send” button.
