[REVIEW] : The Elder Scrolls Online: Ascending Tide, a new game pack to start the saga of the year

Bethesda Softworks yesterday introduced the downloadable game pack that kicks off the “Legacy of the Bretons” saga in The Elder Scrolls Online. The Elder Scrolls Online: Ascending Tide is now available for all PC/Mac and Stadia players. This new downloadable game pack will be released on March 29 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

Two new PvE dungeons kick off the year, The Carpenter’s Regret and The Coral Area. Ascending Tide provides a great introduction to future adventures with the High Isle Chapter coming later this year.

Players will be able to find several of their heroes encountered during previous adventures. This new game pack begins with a perilous rescue mission to free Jakarn from the clutches of the mysterious Ascending Order. Players will team up with Captain Kaleen for a heroic assault on the Coral Reef, but must beware of the dark forces that threaten the people of Breton. The beautiful and treacherous nature of the Coral Reef provides the perfect visual preview of the content to come in 2022.

Players will also be able to discover an abandoned and haunted shipyard, known as the Carpenter’s Regret. Considered the largest naval force in Tamriel’s history, the fabled Fleet of All Sails is left to ruins and wreckage where the undead lurk ready to fight. Our new Game Pack will offer players a plethora of new features, whether it’s tough challenges, secrets to discover, or rewards.

The Ascending Tide DLC game pack is available for purchase from the in-game Crown Store and is free for ESO Plus members. This new downloadable game pack is already available on PC / Mac and Stadia and will be released as a reminder on March 29 for Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

NEW UNDEAD, PLOTS AND DUNGEONS

serving as an introduction to the brand new MMO sagaAscending Tides invites players to discover two new PvE dungeons, called The Carpenter’s Regret and The Coral Area. Regarding the scenario of this introductory pack, Bethesda tells us that the adventure begins with a “perilous” rescue mission, which aims to release the so-called Jakarnretained by the Ascending Order, which appears to be plotting. To accomplish this task, players will be paired with the Captain Kaleenand lead a “heroic” assault on the Coral Reef.

Of course, the mission will be strewn with pitfalls, starting with the presence of dark forces who, we are told, threaten the safety of the Breton people. For its part, Le Regret du Charpentier is an abandoned shipyard, where we find the remains of the Fleet of All Sails, considered the largest in Tamriel’s history. And who says abandoned place says undead… Obviously, surviving these trials will allow you to obtain from all new rewards, access new challengesand discover multiple secrets.

In June, the 6th on PC and the 21st on console, players will be able to continue the adventure with the extension as suchwho will send them to explore the archipelago of Systres, namely High Isle. Linked to Bretons, this extension should emphasize political intrigues and power games, accompanied by betrayals and numerous conspiracies. A relatively rare approach in the MMO, which could well bring a very fresh air to the experience.

Ascending Tide will be the first DLC for TESO from 2022; it will be a dungeon DLC, and will open the story of the year, the Legacy of the Bretons. As usual, it will bring two new dungeons, and new rewards. It will be accompanied by update 33, bringing changes to the combat system and achievements. This DLC and this update were released today, Monday March 14, 2022 on PC, Mac and Stadia, and will arrive on March 29, 2022 on PS4, PS5Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.

The first dungeon in this DLC is called the Coral Area, and its entrance is north of the Veyond Wyte Oratory in Summerset. It’s a mix of reefs, caves, and elven ruins, also allowing quick access into the air for the gryphons used by the Ascending Order, the new threat to Tamriel. If you linger there to explore it in more detail, you can find many secrets, treasures and other challenges and discover the history of this place…

In the base of these new adversaries, you will have to face yaghras and, of course, members of the Ascending Order and their gryphons. They will be under the command of 3 bosses, representing the different opponents you will encounter there, including an Ascending Order commander supported by imposing gryphons.

You will also cross paths with old friends. Indeed, as soon as you arrive in this lair, you will again find Captain Kaleen, hired by Lady Arabelle to search for the bandit Jakarn, also in her service, who disappeared when he was to carry out a diplomatic mission of great importance. Finding him amidst monsters and other hostile opponents won’t be easy.

Of course, defeating this dungeon will earn you great rewards including new sets (one of them being based on critical damage), as well as titles (including one by clearing the dungeon in Hard mode), a memento and many collectibles. The classic monster mask will also be available.

he second dungeon brought by Ascending Tide is called Carpenter’s Regret: you’ll find its entrance east of Fallen Canyon, at Returnrend. Here you will find the remains of the shipyard that was used to create the Fleet of All Sails, Tamriel’s most important armada, having defeated the Sloads. Although it has been abandoned for a long time, ghosts and spirits of the forest have taken up residence there; it would also contain plans for improving ships that have never been used before…

In this disturbing place, you will have to face not only ghosts, spriggans and other undead, but also the Pirates of Doomsail; however, we will have to wait High Isle, the next Chapter, to understand the goals of these new enemies. 3 bosses also lurk there, a spirit, a spriggan and a captain (who will be entitled to innovative mechanics and will require a lot of agility), obviously much stronger than their congeners.

You will also find two former adventurers there, whom you may have met in the South ofElsweyr, the dagi-raht captain Za’Ji, and his senche-raht companion, Caska. They traveled, rather at the behest of Za’Ji, to this abandoned shipyard in search of plans to further improve their ship, the Perfect Bond. Not seeming to expect strong opposition, it will be up to you to help them take ownership of the plans in question.

By successfully completing this dungeon, you will be able to obtain a monster mask, new armor sets (including one that focuses on damage and impact effects), new achievements and titles (complete the dungeon on Veteran hard mode will grant you the “Corsair” one, as well as many other collectibles, such as the Abyssal Embrace Body Marks.

Additionally, you will be able to obtain the Abyssal Embrace Facial Markings simply by entering one of these new dungeons.

Of course, as usual, an update, free for all, accompanies this DLC: this is update 33.
