[REVIEW] : World of Warcraft: the final update of the Shadowlands extension launches on video

Shadowlands prepares the sequel (or the end?) of World of Warcraft

Launched at the end of November 2020, the Shadowlands extension of World of Warcraft is coming to an end. In addition to the months that have passed, the arrival of a new mysterious version and inter-faction instances prove that the pool of players is no longer what it used to be: all the signs are there. It was therefore time for the final major update, numbered 9.2 and dubbed The End of Eternity, to arrive.

On the scenario side: “The Jailer now holds the key that will allow him to forge a new reality where all souls will kneel before him. In a last ditch effort, the heroes of Azeroth must pursue him to the mysterious realm of Zereth Mortis, where the Progenitors forged the Eternities. Stand together in the darkest hours of the Shadowlands and defy death to save the cosmos before all life disappears”.

More concretely, in terms of content, the new zone of Zereth Mortis is open with its share of activities and its faction, the Enlightened. The Sepulcher of the Founders raid will arrive on March 2 on normal and heroic difficulty, and on mythic on March 9. A new arena is also here to accompany a new clash and season 3.

THE END OF ETERNITY FOR WORLD OF WARCRAFT: SHADOWLANDS STARTS TODAY

Because eternity is long enough like that

Here we are: the last major update for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, the end of eternity (9.2), is finally available. On the program, players will be able to discover a new region, new activities and a new raid.

The Jailer now holds the key that will allow him to forge a new reality where all souls will kneel before him. In a last ditch effort, the heroes of Azeroth must pursue him to the mysterious realm of Zereth Mortis, where the Progenitors forged the Eternities. Stand together in the darkest hours of the Shadowlands and defy death to save the cosmos before all life disappears.

WoW: the final major Shadowlands patch is here, waiting for the next expansion

World of Warcraft Shadowlands patch 9.2 promises to be the last big chapter of the expansion… while waiting for the next one.

WoW Shadowlands Patch 9.2

This patch, numbered 9.2, will in fact be deployed in several phases, so as not to offer everything at once. Thus, the first three chapters of the new campaign (which is called Zereth Mortis) will be available immediately, but not the following ones. In Chapter Four, they will be offered at the rate of one per week, throughout March.

It’s the same thing on the side of the new raid, titled the Sepulcher of the Founders. It will only be open from March 2, in the first two difficulty levels (normal and heroic) and only for the first eight bosses – the whole dungeon has eleven in total. Mythic difficulty and the remaining bosses will be accessible from March 9.

And for the raid search mode, which offers a simplified experience? It will be offered in stages, with limited access. A first area of the raid will be opened at the LFR (Looking For Raid) on March 9, while the second wing will be active on the 23rd of the same month. As for parts three and four of the Sepulcher of the Founders, see you in April.

Beyond the new region and the new raid, the patch welcomes a new feature, the cryptic console. It is used to access various activities in the area, such as daily quests and expeditions, with the possibility of obtaining additional capacities for its adventure companion for this patch, but also specific improvements.

The patch also brings a new faction, called the Enlightened, and an in-game service for spawning pets and mounts — Protoform Synthesis. Patch 9.2 finally kicks off a new season for player versus player (PVP) matches, additional difficulty thresholds for the Tower of the Damned (Torment), and a game mode, Trial of the Jailer.

These are the main takeaways from patch 9.2, although the update also delivers minor changes.

There are obviously the endless changes to classes, spells and effects to adjust the game’s balance as much as possible — to prevent a class from being too strong or too r****d —, but also new objects to recover (equipment, weapons, pets, mounts, toys, etc.), secrets and treasures to discover, professions to improve.

Shadowlands, the eighth expansion for World of Warcraft, has had a career that has been anything but easy.

Announced at the end of 2019, it was released on November 24, 2020 after a month of r****d on the announced schedule and its development was also affected by the multiple cases of sexual harassment in the company. As a result, on the game side, there has sometimes been no novelty for months. And on the backstage side, departures have been observed and complaints filed.

It remains to be seen when the studio will lift the veil on the future expansion. Perhaps at the end of the year, which is a traditional time for the studio to make its announcements – especially since by then the coronavirus epidemic may have subsided enough to organize a new BlizzCon at the United States. If an announcement takes place in 2022, a release in 2023 is to be expected.

It will be a question of reconnecting with its public with WoW, which historically has long been faithful to it. Recent developments in society have however been able to damage this link, like the controversy over Diablo Immortal. However, not sure that the most recent developments incite unbridled optimism, with another mobile game on Warcraft and the end of the rival factions.

Eternity’s End is now live, with a huge update bringing an end to Shadowlands.

The day has come to enter Zereth Mortis, take on new quests, pursue the Jailer to end his plots, and try out all the new modes and more, because Update 9.2, Eternity’s End , is now available for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands.

This update is certainly huge, with new features and additions touching all aspects of the game experience. The new area of Zereth Mortis hides secrets for you to discover, including the brand new Enlightened faction. The Cypher of the First Ones is a language that will allow you to learn history, culture and new skills. Among these is the use of synthesis forges, through which you can learn how to craft combat pets and mounts.

For those who want to continue their adventures, there are a total of eight new campaign chapters to play through.

There’s a new arena: Maldraxxus Coliseum, a new raid: Sepulcher of the First Ones, and the all-new Queued Solo Brawl: Solo Shuffle. All of these challenges are there for you to complete and earn great rewards. And speaking of rewards, this update also brings significant changes to class sets.

The changes are designed to try and give a fairer chance of getting the gear you need, through some changes to how drops work. There’s also a brand new Progenitor armor set, which will give you new abilities based on your specialization. And a new look, of course.

Overall, Eternity’s End is a solid update, and its arrival marks the third and final chapter of Shadowlands. It is normal that the update covers so many things, since this one will put an end to the evolution of WoW.
